Every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Room 1 of Natural Science Building, a group of students engage themselves in biology-oriented extracurricular activities. The Biology Club meets to discuss new ideas for future programs, but also to have fun and engage in résumé-worthy activities.

Western Carolina University is home to over 100 different clubs and organizations. Getting involved is one major key to success because it opens a door to wonderful opportunities.

Whether you’re a student keeping up with your peers or a recent addition to the workforce finding your place in a new job, communication is key. College is an essential time for learning the communication skills necessary to coordinate with employers, clients, friends and more.

Kimberly Gorman is the director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Western Carolina University. She is responsible for overseeing administration, policies and procedure, as well as making sure that students in need of counseling get help in a fast and efficient manner.

Thursday, Nov. 16 • The Bardo Arts Center gift shop will host the annual Handmade Holiday Sale in the Performance Hall lobby. This event will feature exceptional handmade gifts made by Western Carolina University students, staff and alumni, as well as light snacks and live music. The sale will last from noon to 7 p.m. • The documentary “Horace Kephart: His Life and Legacy” will be screened in the H.F. Robinson Administration Building auditorium at 7 p.m. followed by a discussion by the film’s producer and Kephart’s great-granddaughter Libby Kephart Hargrave.

Established in 1953, the Wesley Foundation is a campus ministry that prides itself in welcoming all and has a more liberal approach to Christianity than other ministries. Their goal is not to impose their beliefs, but inform others of Christianity and God in a personal, loving and fun way. Meetings are held at the United Methodist Church across from Brown Hall at Western Carolina University.
