CULLOWHEE – Western Carolina University has announced its roster of new graduates and released its dean’s/chancellor’s list for spring semester 2017.

The university conferred degrees on 1,504 students who completed their studies during the spring semester. A total of 528 undergraduate students received academic honors, with 136 graduating summa cum laude (with highest honors), 175 graduating magna cum laude (with high honors), and 217 graduating cum laude (with honors).

(Hendersonville, North Carolina) While the calendar may still be saying summer, the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) has its eyes – and ears – on its upcoming 2017-2018 season.

Season tickets are now on sale for the public to secure their seats for the HSO’s five-concert series. This season concert’s titles all reflect the mood of each concert: Celebration! on Sept. 9; Brilliance! on Oct. 21; Joy! on Dec. 9; Inspiration! on March 24; and Passion! on April 28.

CULLOWHEE – A new 600-bed residence hall planned for the upper section of the Western Carolina University campus took one step closer to becoming a reality as the WCU Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed a design concept for the building.

The action came during the board’s quarterly meeting Friday, June 2.
