We live in an area with so many natural masterpieces all around us. However, the mountains can see frigid temperatures and bad weather during the winter. This makes it hard to continue adventuring, especially when many of the locations around here require hiking. That is one of many reasons why I love Whitewater Falls: you can go year-round!
We have some amazing waterfalls all around campus that shouldn’t be taken for granted. I could talk about the wonderful aspects of each one, but Whitewater Falls always grabs my attention more than the others.
I have lived in this area my entire life. I was born in Sylva and grew up in the same small house in Highlands, NC until I graduated high school. Living in this area has always been amazing and one of my favorite parts of Western North Carolina is by far the scenery. There are so many things to see and places to find that are simply breathtaking. I want to talk about one of my all-time favorite places in this area: Whiteside Mountain.
January 20 started out as another gloomy and cold morning as students dragged themselves out of their warm beds and through campus to their morning classes. The promise of snow has been teasing the students on Western Carolina University’s Cullowhee campus for days. Every time students checked the weather, the snow seemed to be farther and farther away. Luckily, on this cold January day, a miracle happened and snow started to drift down from the gray sky.
